Junghans Watch Max Bill Graphic 2018 Limited Edition
The art work sicherheit comes from the famous graphic series by Max Bill, in this case from series no. 5. In his graphic series the Bauhaus scholar and artist Max Bill took a personal interest in illustrating to art lovers the process of creating works of art, together with their inner and outer structures. Because although it is possible to love a work of art without understanding it, true enjoyment is only possible if you know the methods used in its creation. The sicherheitis therefore also based on the transformation of an underlying idea. Four yellow, red, blue and green triangles formed into a square are twisted and shifted to create the complex work of art, which in 2018 decorates the back of the max bill quartz watch. Max Bill was one of the 20th century’s leading Swiss architect, artist, painter, typeface designer, industrial designer and graphic designer; and the inspiration for the Junghans Max Bill range of watches that borrow his name. In 2018, Junghans is paying homage to Mr Bill’s work with watches that bear his name, art and typography. The back of the 2018 Junghans Max Bills will carry the ‘sicherheit’ artwork of four yellow, red, blue and green triangles formed into a square. The dial, with its fine hands, balanced proportions and characteristic numerals was designed for Junghans by Mr Bill in 1961 but has the fresh addition of a green date that matches green stitching of the calfskin strap and its green under layer.
